Roma Gail Collins, 83, of the East Buffalo community in Robbinsville, N.C. went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Roma Gail was a life-long native of Graham County, born on Feb. 14, 1942 to the late Forrest Waldroup, and the late Velma Orr Waldroup Stafford.
Roma Gail, a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and even in her sickness she asked everyone she came in contact with, "Do you know my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?"
A favorite past-time of Roma Gail was to read, especially her Bible.
She was a hardworking, honest woman. No work was too big or too small or even too difficult. She was a jack of all trades, home-maker, seamstress, saleswoman, plumber, mechanic, electrician, carpenter, road engineer, only to name a few.
The only thing she loved more on this side of Heaven than working was her family and spending time with them. She loved doing things for her family and others.
Roma Gail was married to her loving husband of 66 years, James ("Jimmy") Darrell Collins. Jimmy and Roma Gail were dedicated to one another and their family everyday. She was a mother to four children: Sherry Williams (Dirk Cody), the late Darrell Collins (Sallie), Susie Beasley (Tim) and Bo Collins (Missy).
Roma Gail had nine grandchildren: Tara Rogers (Cale), Kaleb Williams, Ryan Beasley (Shenna), Krystina Ford (Drew), Jessica McGuire (Wayne), Lindsay Jenkins (Coty), Chantal Matheson (Skylar), Tyler Beasley (Katie) and B.J. Collins.
She had 22 great-grandchildren: Kate and Will Rogers, Cutler, Case, Tripp and Buck Beasley, Reagan Ditmore, Hollis and Alden Ford, Carter and Ella McGuire, the late Jace Jenkins, Sophia, Isabelle, and Briar Jenkins, Berkley Matheson, Ophelia, Osi, Brayson and Bennett Beasley, Ollie Blevins, and the late Addison Beasley; and two great-great grandchildren, Wylee and Krew Beasley.
Her siblings were Leonard Waldroup (Sue), the late Joe Waldroup (Sis), Teresa Brown (David) and Vickie Jordan (Terry).
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at Lone Oak Baptist Church. The Revs. Scott Roper and Lance Burke officiated.
Burial followed at the Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.
Townson-Smith Funeral Home was honored to serve the Collins family.
