Beth Juleann McMillan, age 94, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 2, 2021, just before midnight. She was born April 20, 1927, to Harry and Julia (Johnson) Brondyke of Norton Shores; she was one of 13 children, 10 of whom survived to adulthood.
Beth married Elwood McMillan of Allendale on June 26, 1954, and raised three children. Married for 51 years, she was preceded in death by her husband on December 30, 2005, as well as all 12 siblings. Beth is survived by three children: Cheri (Ben) Young, Chuck (Lori) McMillan and Cathy (Mark) Hatfield; in addition to 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Beth was an active member of Black Lake Baptist Church, where she attended most of her life. Passionate about the lost, especially children, she taught Sunday School, Sunday evening clubs, helped in VBS, church visitation, led Christmas programs and took food to the poor.
Beth was a faithful wife, loving mother and devoted grandmother. She helped take care of her parents for years and spent much time with her beloved siblings with whom she socialized often. Hers was truly a life well-lived as the Bible says, "Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies."
The funeral for Beth will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, at Black Lake Baptist Church, 842 E. Pontaluna Road, Muskegon, MI 49444, with Pastor Garth Hutchison officiating. Friends may meet the family from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 9, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417. Interment will be in Norton Cemetery. Share memories with the family at their online guest book at www.sytsemafh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage memorial contributions to be given in Beth's honor to Black Lake Baptist Church. Thank you!

In my early teens I lived on Harvey across from Beth and went to the same church. I saw her in a local craft store about 20- 25 years ago and we recognized each other immediately. It was an especially warm heartfelt encounter.

What a wonderful woman who influenced my life in so many memorable ways ! Beth was my Sunday school teacher as a little boy teaching me bible verses and examples of Jesus by her life of faithfulness to Him .... those vales resonate with me today at age 65 .. She was also a dear friend to my mother (Helen) and checked in often bringing food and a cheerful greeting and smile to my father (Raymond) who was often ill at home and shut in . I also admired and respected her dear husband Elwood. I recall his tender mannerism as if he was talking with me right now . To Cheri , Chuck and Cathy may the love , comfort and peace of our King Jesus continue to provide strength in your season of grief Your parents were so instrumental in my life and bringing me to Jesus at a very young age.
Sharing in your sorrow,
Mark
