Hazel Ann Measom, age 79 of West Olive, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Robbinswood Assisted Living. She was born on November 11, 1943, in Grand Haven, Michigan, to the late John and Harriet (Lohuis) Wiegerink.
Hazel married Edmond Measom on November 13, 1965, in Grand Haven, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 2019, after 53 years of marriage.
Hazel graduated from Grand Haven High School and later worked for Grand Transformers for a short time, before deciding to be a stay-at-home mom to raise her two children. Hazel was a long-time, active member of Harlem Reformed Church in Holland, where she assisted with Vacation Bible School and the Food Pantry. Hazel also volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels (Ottawa County). She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, being outside in the warmer months by her pool, and tending to her flowers.
Hazel is lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Linda Yonker of West Olive, Mich.; her son, Bruce (Stavit) Measom of West Bloomfield, Mich.; five grandchildren; her two sisters, Bonnie (Lewis) Johnson and Susan (Doug) Vanse; brother, Richard Wiegerink; a sister-in-law, Karen VanFleet; and many other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; and her brother and sister, James and Carol.
The Memorial Service for Hazel will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Harlem Reformed Church in Holland, with Pastor John Nyitray officiating. My mother and Hazel were very good friends. Hazel loved going up to my moms cottage. They used to do puzzles together. Go to concerts in Holland. We will miss her

My husband and I sat behind your mom and dad at Harlem for years and then just your mom. They were both so friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them. Your mom and I called each other and I´d send cards occasionally, she called me just two weeks ago. I´m praying for God´s Grace and comfort to be with each of you.
