Karol Ann Span, age 82 of Spring Lake, MI, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023. She was born on February 14, 1941, in Traverse City, MI, the daughter of Leon and Juanita (Hardy) Ouvry.
Karol married Cornelius "Casey" Span on April 2, 1966, in Kalkaska, Michigan. Karol loved fishing, bird watching, feeding her cat Chichi too many treats, and visiting with friends. Her true passion was spending the summers at her camper entertaining her sisters, friends, and her beloved grandchildren. She was known to have a particular enjoyment of a frosty and chili from Wendy's.
Karol is survived by her two sons, Scott (Stacey) Span and Leon (Kristina) Span both of Spring Lake; four grandchildren: Garrett Span, Toree Burrell, Nikolas Span, and Dzintra Span; and her sister, Vicki Muehring of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Casey Span; three sisters: Mary Lou Sheppard, Phyllis Taylor, and twin sister, Kay Derrer.
The Memorial Service for Karol will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.

Karol was incredibly kind. I appreciated getting to know her during my teens years. I also appreciated the kind care she showed my grandmother at Christian Haven Home. Karol loved her family very much. I´m deeply sorry for the loss you will feel.
