Mildred Hildinger Obituary

Mildred "Midge" Helen Hildinger, age 96, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 22, 2024. She was born on August 18, 1928, in Belleville, Michigan, to the late Edward and Marge (Bates) Pullen.

Midge was married to George V. Hildinger for 59 years, preceding her in death on October 18, 2009. Midge graduated from Belleville High School and then attended Washtenaw Community College. She worked as proof-reader and word processor for most of her career, retiring from the School of Business at University of Michigan.

In the 1990s, Midge and her family moved to the Grand Haven area. Midge loved the arts and was a talented painter, creating many pieces throughout the years. She also enjoyed crafting, antiquing and fixing antiques, and gardening. She was especially fond of her tomato plants, flower garden, and garden boxes she put together every year.

Midge also enjoyed trains, especially traveling by train, with her most memorable trips being to Chicago and down to Florida. For those who knew her, she was known as a great cook who loved helping others.

Midge will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Kristine Lewis of North Dakota; her son, Mark Hildinger of Grand Haven; and her granddaughter, Evelyn Lewis. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by their son, Kurt Hildinger in 2023.

Private family services will be held. Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity she was most passionate about, St. Joseph's Indian School.
