Richard Hatton Harbeck, Sr., age 92, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away on September 1st, 2025.
Born in Grand Haven, Michigan, Richard graduated from Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills in 1950 before earning his undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 1954. He went on to complete his Master of Business Administration at the University of Michigan.
Richard proudly served in the United States Army before beginning his professional career in Human Resources at Federal Mogul, where his expertise in recruitment and hiring was widely respected.
After his retirement, Richard and his wife, Elizabeth, made their home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He will be remembered for his thoughtful insight, intellectual curiosity, and steady presence. To his children, he will always be known for his clever riddles and the joy he found in sharing them.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Harbeck, and by his three children from his first marriage to the late Camille Lopez Harbeck: Sharon Harbeck Smith of Seattle, Washington; Elizabeth Harbeck Monaghan of Centreville, Maryland; and Richard Hatton Harbeck, Jr. of Berkley, Michigan. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
