Cathy Ronis Obituary
7/25/1949 - 1/2/2024
Grand Rapids
Cathy J. Ronis (nee Totoraitis), age 74 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Martin Ronis; children, Nik (Kattie) Ronis, Erik (Lesley Reid) Ronis; grandchildren, Lilija and Parker Ronis; sister, Patricia (Rick) Zandstra; nephews, Seth and Evan Zandstra; as well as numerous extended relations with the Snoap, Kruizenga, Heukels, Johnston, and Totoraitis families. Cathy graduated from Grandville High School in 1967 and went on to get her undergraduate degree at Michigan State University and her master's degree from the University of Michigan. She worked as an art consultant at Grand Rapids Public for 22 years. Cathy appreciated art, spending time outdoors, gardening, and cooking. She enjoyed going to their cabin in Alba and enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow. Her family would like to thank the staff at Green Acres of Standale and Faith Hospice for their compassionate care of Cathy over the years. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 6, 2024, with visitation from 11:00-1:00 pm at O'Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Chaplain Caleb Walcott officiating. Interment Rosedale Cemetery.

Marty my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I met her several times when we were young. Her dad worked with my dad. I do remember her laughing a lot. So sorry for your loss.

She was one of the good ones. I met her first because we lockered next to each other. Always enjoyed hanging out with her. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She did like the outdoors and as I remember it shot a deer before any of the boys. We were all envious. You have my condolences. Truly someone I never forgot.

I have strong memories of New Years Eve lobster dinners with Cathy and Annie cooking a feast, but my favorite was her driving her dad's jeep down the dirt roads up at the cabin. She was a powerful, fearless force.
