Marcille Dalgleish Obituary

(Pridgeon), age 92, of Grand Rapids, died June 12, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas A. Dalgliesh, and daughter, Diane Dalgliesh Auyer. Surviving are her two children, Thomas A. Dalgleish Jr. (Patricia) of Geneva, IL, and David P. Dalgleish of Grand Rapids; grandchildren,Emily, Sarah, and Peter Dalgleish; and grandchildren, Jakob, Joshua, and John Auyer. Born in Hillsdale, MI, Marcille lived with her parents and siblings on a farm in Branch Co., MI. She attended a one-room school, Phillips Rural School, before graduating from Reading High School. She was ""Rosie the Riveter"" during World War II in a defense plant as an inspector of airplane and weapon parts before graduating from Western Michigan University. Marcille taught at Albion High School for four years before earning her Masters of Science degree from Michigan State University. She met her husband, Tom, while working in General Mills' Betty Crocker Kitchens in Minneapolis, MN. They moved to Grand Rapids, MI, where she had three children. Later, she taught Food Science and Nutrition at GRCC. Marcille served as an elder of Oak Hill Prebyterian Church, was a docent at Frederik Meijer Garden and Sculpture Park, and was a tutor for the Grand Rapids Literacy Council. At Marcille's request, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Hospice or Porter Hills Foundation ""Benevolent Fund.""
