Darlene K. Winegarner
1935-2023
Darlene Kay Winegarner, age 88, of Crosby, went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 3, 2023. She was born to William and Pearl (Powell) Isensee in Cass Lake, Minnesota on February 17, 1935. When Darlene was in grade school, her family moved to Crosby. Darlene married LeRoy Winegarner on September 9, 1954, they had five children.
Throughout Darlene's life, she was a homemaker, restaurant manager and waitress. She definitely could serve up a delicious waffle from the Waffle House. She loved people, so you not only were served with a delicious meal, you would also be blessed with some great conversations and good laughs. Darlene's greatest joy was spending time with her family; her grandkids and great grandkids, they were her pride and joy. She was mom and grandma to so many outside of her biological kids, many call her grandma. She loved gardening and canning, flowers and plants brought her so much joy. She was a sports enthusiast watching and cheering on her children and grandchildren on the playing fields. She was a loyal Minnesota Vikings fan, sitting in her living room with family and friends gathered to help the Vikings pull off a win. Her favorite place to be in the summer was sitting on her porch enjoying the sunshine and conversation with whomever stopped by.
Preceding Darlene in death are her parents; her husband of 47 years, Donald LeRoy Winegarner; two sons, Donnie Winegarner and Scott Winegarner.
She is survived by her two sons, Butch Winegarner (Sharon) of Loveland, Colorado and Roger Winegarner of Deerwood, Minnesota, one daughter, Dody Bergan of Victoria, Minnesota, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, three loving sisters and many nieces and nephews and great friends. She will be missed by so many.
Special thanks to Dr. Maucieri and the CRMC Hospice Team who provided invaluable care to Darlene.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. at Koop Funeral Home, Crosby, MN
