James Hachey Obituary
1962 - 2025
James "Jim" R. Hachey, 62 of Taconite, MN passed away on June 13th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with cancer at Essentia Health - St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth MN. Through his battle Jim never lost his tremendous sense of humor.
Jim was born August 3, 1962, to William and Doris Hachey in Grand Rapids, MN. He lived in Taconite MN, attended Greenway Schools graduating in 1981 working in the area his entire life and was a long-term employee of Industrial Lubricant Company. He was a generous friend with an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and was very passionate about music.
He is preceded in death by mother & father, Doris & William Hachey; son, Chad Hachey; & daughter, Laura Nielsen.
Survived by his wife Jill Hachey; sons, Christopher (Desiree) Hachey, Derek (Theresa) Hachey and Tyler Nielsen; grandchildren, Leticia & Kiana Hachey, Audrina Coyle, Ryan & Tessa Nielsen and Harper Hachey; siblings, Mary McDonnell, Mike (Eileen) Hachey and Rob Hachey; numerous nieces, nephews; and many of the children from Jill's daycare who lovingly called him Papa.
A special thank you to the amazing nurses and doctors at Essentia St Mary's Hospital who provided him with loving care.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN and will continue at the church on Friday, June 20, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Funeral Service at The Grace Gospel Church in Taconite, MN. Pastor Lance Edminster will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, MN.
