John Vipond Obituary

John "Jack" Vipond

1951 - 2025

John "Jack" Vipond (WBØSLI), 74 of Grand Rapids passed away on September 24, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson's. He was surrounded by family, friends, and his beloved dog, Tootsie.

Jack was born in St Paul, MN and adopted shortly after by Carroll and Doris Vipond. He attended Grand Rapids High School and went on to work for Grand Rapids Public Utilities for 40 years. He was also a member of the Grand Rapids Volunteer Fire Department.

Jack had a lifelong passion for fishing, finding peace and joy in those moments spent on the water. He also had a deep and abiding love for dogs, and over the years, he and his wife Sue opened their hearts and home to countless shelter dogs in need.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Margie, and his wife Sue. Jack is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline (Brian) Schuemann and Marie Vipond.

In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family asks that you consider making a contribution to your local animal shelter or The Parkinson's Foundation.

A private ceremony will take place at a later date.
