1947 - 2025
Judy Marie Hukriede, age 78, formerly of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Minnesota Veterans Home, Silver Bay, MN.
Judy was born in 1947 to William and June Salo in Grand Rapids, MN, attending schools in Warba and Grand Rapids. She was united in marriage to Russell Hukriede on June 15, 1985, at Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, MN. They were married for 31 years. She stayed at home while her children were young and cleaned homes and local businesses in the Grand Rapids area. Judy and Russ were avid bowlers, competing in a local co-ed league. Judy was an active member in her churches, teaching Sunday school at United Methodist and Zion Lutheran for over 25 years. She also served as president of the Cohasset Women's Club.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russ; and grandson, Jakub Witherill.
Judy is survived by sons, Troy (Dawn) Witherill of Duluth, MN and Todd (Danielle) Witherill of Grand Rapids, MN; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers, Ken (Barb) Salo of Bellaire, MI and John (Tari) Salo of Grand Rapids, MN; sisters, Millie (Allan) Amundson of Nisswa, MN and Patty (Blaine) Sawdey of Hill City, MN; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10:00am at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN followed by the 11:00am funeral service. Burial will be at Harris Cemetery, Harris Township, MN at a later date.
