Larry E. Holum, age 86, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Grand Village in Grand Rapids, MN.

Larry was born in 1940 in Grand Rapids, MN, to Eilert and Alice Holum. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1958, where he proudly played on the high school hockey team. His love of sports continued throughout his life, he played hockey for the Grand Rapids Bruins and remained an avid supporter of local athletics. His long-standing dedication and enthusiastic spirit earned him the Best Fan and Sportsman Award for the community of Grand Rapids in 2007.

Following high school, Larry attended Itasca Community College, where he played football, and later continued his education at Bemidji State University. He worked for Miner's Grocery and then for Blandin Paper Company, where he remained until his retirement.

Larry was united in marriage to Cathro Culp. Larry adored Cathro deeply, and their life together was rooted in unwavering devotion, humor, and love. He was equally devoted to his grandchildren, whom he absolutely cherished; he bragged about them to anyone who would listen, always eager to share their accomplishments and stories.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Cathro; one daughter, Rebecca (Troy) Miller of Crystal, MN; two sons, James Holum of Pine City, MN, and David (Jill) Holum of Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Cheryl (Bob) Soular of Hoyt Lakes, MN; and one brother, Terry (Nancy) Holum of Grand Rapids, MN. Five grandchildren lovingly remember him, Cooper Holum, Lexie Holum, Kenzie Holum, Maxwell Miller, and Mason Miller, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
