1959-2024
Mark Alan Mandich "Mando", 65, longtime resident of Lawrence Lake, passed away in Hibbing, MN on December 22, 2024.
Mark was born on February 10, 1959 in LaRochelle, France, he was the son of Walter "Lud" and Karen (Hawkinson) Mandich. He graduated from Greenway High School in 1977. He then enlisted in the Navy and served from 1977-1981. After the service, Mark worked for Itasca County until he joined AFSCME as a union rep from 1988-2014. Mark was elected County Commissioner in 1999 and held the position until retirement in 2017. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 476 from 1988-2024.
Mark loved to socialize, he enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling, fantasy football and Texas hold'em. Above all else, he loved to travel.
He was preceded in death by his father; Walter "Lud" Mandich, infant sister; Debbie Mandich, sister-in-law; Shannon Mandich, Paternal grandparents; Dan and Mil Mandich, Maternal grandparents; Harold and Irene Hawkinson.
Survivors include his children; Kimberly Pluff and Jeffrey Mandich, grandson; Chase Pluff, Mother; Karen Mandich, Brothers; Dan Mandich and Dave Mandich, and sister; Connie (Joe) Chaston, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the 12:00 PM Funeral Service on Friday, January 3, 2025 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine.
