1942 - 2025
Richard "Dick" Roger Reed, age 82, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at his home.
Richard was born in 1942 to William and Vera Reed in Deer River, MN. He attended school in Deer River, MN, graduating in 1960. Dick served in the United States Army in 1964. He was united into marriage to Karen Bergh at Evangelical Covenant Church in Deer River, MN in 1965. They moved to Grand Rapids in 1994 and to their present address in 2013.
Dick was involved in many organizations and served as a Cub Master of the Deer River Chapter, with the Deer River Ambulance Service, Lion's Club, Kiwanis, and sat on many church boards. Dick was owner and operator of Pokegama Insurance Agency and a Certified Insurance Counselor for many years. He loved to garden and do yardwork keeping busy whenever possible. In his spare time, he hunted, fished and golfed. He also enjoyed square dancing with Karen for many years.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, William and Vera Reed; brothers, William Jr., Steven, Jerry, and Larry; granddaughter, Allison; and grandson, Ethan.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Nancy (Jacob) Goering of Sabin, MN, Dianna Reed-Howe of Grand Rapids, MN, and Robert (Sue) Reed of Flower Mound, TX; sister, Mary Kelley; brothers, Daniel Reed, Gene (Wendy) Reed, Mark (Darra) Reed, and Dale (Beth) Reed; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Grand Rapids Assembly of God in Grand Rapids, MN followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. Pastors Dennis Whitter and Jay Pepin will officiate. Burial and military honors will be at Olivet Cemetery, Deer River, MN.
