Robert Laudenbach Obituary

Robert Laudenbach

1931 - 2025

Robert James Laudenbach, age 93, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at Garden Court Chateau.

Robert was born in 1931 to Michael and Mildred Laudenbach in St. Cloud, MN. After graduating from high school in 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Robert married the love of his life, Darline, on October 22, 1955, and together they moved to their forever home in 1961 and raised their four children.

Robert worked for Blandin Paper Mill for 39 years, retiring in 1989. After retirement, he could be found volunteering for the Salvation Army as a bell ringer every Christmas season. Robert loved his family, and was extremely proud of them, going to as many of his grandchildren and great grandchildren schooling and sports functions as possible. He was a good loving father, grandfather and furbaby grandfather.

In his spare time, Robert was a member of Kiwanis and the Blandin Paper bowling league. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, making lawn ornaments that Darline would paint, and gardening. Robert loved and was proud of his yard, defending it from those pesky dandelions every year. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Darline; parents, sisters, Mary Chambers and Lucille Johnson; brothers, Don, and John "Jack", infant brother, Tommy; and grandson Robert Laudenbach II. He is survived by his children, Debra (Tom) Bartell, Gail (Kenny) Welch, Mark Laudenbach, and Todd (Kriste) Laudenbach; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Robert's family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Garden Court Chateau and St. Croix Hospice, especially nurse Laura, for the excellent care and compassion he received.

At this time, no services are being planned.
