Peggy Hopp Obituary

Peggy Eileen Hopp

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Peggy Eileen Hopp (nee Jackson), 72, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 24, 2018 in Roseville, California after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Mark Hopp of Auburn; her children, Richard Hopp of San Carlos; Marcie Hopp of Rocklin; grandchildren McKayla Hopp and Riley Hopp of Rocklin; and her beloved sisters, Patsy Coulson (Jim), Paula Casaretto (Mark) and Pamela Jackson, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Berna Jackson, her in-laws Jack and Marilyn Hopp and brother- in-law John Hopp.
Peggy met Mark in the 1960's, where they both worked at Wadsworth Publishing Co. in Belmont, California. They married shortly after Mark was drafted into the army and moved to Fort Carson, Colorado. After he was discharged, they moved back to California and raised their two children in the Bay Area. Peggy returned to Wadsworth Publishing Company, where she had much success in the initial launch of their telemarketing department, eventually turning it into a multimillion dollar operation.
Peggy possessed a friendly, winning personality with a sharp wit that drew everyone to her. She was once referred to as "everybody's friend," and indeed she was. She traveled occasionally for work, and as a result, made lifelong friends nationwide. She had hundreds of friends, co-workers and acquaintances and was a loving second mother to many.
In the mid-90's, they moved to Auburn, California and Peggy worked for Chen's Books and eventually retired from Marie Callenders Restaurant. She loved helping raise her grandchildren and was an avid reader who loved doing crosswords and arts & crafts. She enjoyed spending time with her numerous friends and relatives. She is dearly loved, and will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Peggy on Sept. 22, 2018 in Redwood City, California

I have tried to start this several times and it's very difficult. Growing up with the Jacksons as our closest family friends starting in the 1950s was joyful, fun, comforting and more. Peggy was the oldest of the four girls, as well as the oldest of the 7 of us combined (me, my sister and my brother). She was always solid, always there, always smiling (when she wasn't scolding one of us because she was looking out for us). My parents adored Peggy, as they did all of the Jackson clan, and trusted Peggy with all of us. I still remember when Peggy met Mark and the excitement building when they planned to marry, and when both Rich and Marcie were born. I am so very very sorry for all of you - Mark, Rich, Marcie & family, Patsy & family, Paula & family, Pamela & family - for this tragic and too-soon loss. Please know that Peggy touched more lives and hearts than you even know. I will still follow up wtih the photos and family letters that I had hoped to share with Peggy. With love and sympathy, Georgia Stigall, La Honda, California.

As you remember your love one, as God heals your broken hearts (Psalm 147:3), may your treasured memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength to endure.

September 6, 2018

Psalms 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years. May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. I got to know Peggy through FB and she invited me to a private group. She was a wonderful, caring woman who seemed very devoted to her children and grandchildren.
