HARLAND HAGEN Obituary

HARLAND HAGEN Harland Hagen, 94, of Granite Falls passed away at Avera Granite Falls Hospital on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 7 at 11 a.m. at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Harland Berg Hagen was born on July 12, 1930, in Granite Falls to Belvin and Ida (Berg) Hagen. He was baptized and confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. Harland attended and graduated from Hanley Falls High School in 1948. On July 14, 1956, he was united in marriage to Rachel Sylvia Dotseth at Augustana Lutheran Church in Clarkfield. They spent 68 years together. Harland farmed for many years in Sandness Township, Hanley Falls. Harland retired from farming after a serious illness in 1986. In 1989, they moved to Granite Falls. Harland enjoyed city life having coffee at DeToy's with the guys, but once a farmer always a farmer, so every spring, summer and fall he was the "gopher" for his son Steve until his sight failed in 2014. Harland is survived by his wife Rachel; three children: Steven Hagen (Sharon) of Cottonwood, Nancy (Robert) Tews of Morgan and Sara (Paul) Davis of Anoka; seven grandchildren: Joseph (Kari) Tews of Rogers, Jenna Tews of Springfield, Corrie Tews (Shayne) of Redwood Falls, Maggie Davis (Jared) of Philadelphia, Pa., Hannah Davis (Alex) of Spring Park, Emma Davis (Tommy) of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jack (Dana) Davis of Hanley Falls; two great-grandchildren: Tucker and Brynlee Davis; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Avis (James) Isaackson and Maxine (Lowell) Hegg.
