JANE NOREEN MORLAND
Jane Noreen Simonson was born on September 15, 1957, to Norma and Warren "Gabby" Simonson. She grew up as the third of four girls and her dad would answer the phone "Simonson Hatchery, which chick do you want?" The Simonson girls grew up close, but Jane wasn't afraid to let them know if they messed up, including tackling one of her sisters when they borrowed her boots. In later years, the Simonson girls became known as "The Committee" and every family decision or secret was shared between "The Committee." She was baptized and confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. She graduated from Granite Falls High School and attended University of Minnesota, Morris where she received her teaching degree.
She met the love of her life, Duane Morland and they had their first date on July 4, 1976. After several years of Jane and her sister KD "stalking" Duane, they got married on June 20, 1981. To that marriage, they were blessed with three children: Rebecca, Nathan, and Stefanie. When her children got married, their spouses were treated like one of Jane's own. She returned to teaching after her children were grown, first at YME and then RCW. She was involved in her community and church throughout the years.
The greatest joy of her life was her nine grandchildren. With them she was always up for Dollar Store trips, making slime, or a good cuddle. She enjoyed spending time at the cabin with all the family, loved pontoon rides, and always enjoyed a good book.
In February 2020, Jane was diagnosed with cancer. She battled cancer until the very end, wanting to spend as much time as she could with her family. The family is so thankful for the memories and the time we were able to spend with Jane. She died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Jane is survived by her husband, Duane; daughter, Rebecca (Dave) Cebuhar of Roseville; son, Nathan (Amelia) Morland of Clarkfield; daughter, Stefanie (Joey) Fragodt of Morris; grandchildren Kallie and Cole Cebuhar; Cohen, Kase, Londyn and Kennedi Morland; Lainey, Tate, and Ty Fragodt; siblings: Mary (Roger) Gorham, Julie (Rob) Dewey, KD (Jim) Segale; sister-in-law Kathy (Larry) Rolfs; brother-in-law Dennis Morland; uncle Rich Huseman; her nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and many other cousins and friends.
