Paul and I have been friends since his time living in New York City. With his broad smile and engaging personality, Paul quickly established many lasting friendships. I was inspired by Paul´s enthusiasm. He embraced everything New York had to offer. He was a dedicated long distance runner, completing many New York City Marathons. Paul was a gracious host and chef, and enjoyed poring over cookbooks for inspiration. Long after the online version was adapted by readers, he continued to read the print version of The New York Times cover to cover, completing the daily crossword.

Paul was a generous, goodhearted friend who will be missed. My condolences to the Beito family and Jose.
