Sandra Lucille Merrifield

1954 - 2017

Sandra Lucille Merrifield, 62, of Mattoon, Ill., formerly of Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at her residence.
She was born on Dec. 5, 1954, in Louisville, the daughter of Richard and Mary Hazel Mattingly Merrifield. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Mattoon. She retired from Kal Kan after working many years as a line operator. Sandra was an avid horse racing fan. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Packer (Trent) of Neoga, Ill.; one grandson, Jaxx Packer of Neoga; sisters-in-law Maxine Powell of Cecilia and JoAnn Merrifield of Big Clifty; nieces and nephews Scott Merrifield (Sheri) of Leitchfield, Robert Merrifield of Big Clifty, Annette West (Mike) and Clarissa Yates (David), both of Cecilia, Larry Powell (Jennifer) of Indianapolis, Ind. and Mike Powell (Sue) of Powell, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert Powell and Richard Merrifield.
A memorial Mass is 2 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Big Clifty, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Big Clifty.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church.
Schilling Funeral Home of Mattoon, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
