Bradley Haugen Obituary

SUNBURST - Former Great Falls resident Bradley W. Haugen, 55, of Sunburst, the chief of passenger traffic for Customs and Border Protection at Sweet Grass, died of cardiac complications Saturday at a Shelby hospital.
A memorial is 2 p.m. Wednesday at the North Toole County High School gym in Sunburst. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Jenna Haugen and a son, Aaron Haugen, both of Sunburst; sisters, Pam Wentworth of St. Louis, Mo., and Andi Baumgardner of Great Falls.
Brad was born Sept. 11, 1951, in Great Falls to Walter and Margaret (Poncelet) Haugen where he grew up and graduated from C.M.Russell High School in 1969.
After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley, he taught music in the Sunburst School District from 1973 to 1984. He then joined the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service in Sweet Grass.
He married Sharon Kinakin on Oct. 20, 1979, at Milk River, and they later divorced.
Along with being an avid model railroad enthusiast, Brad enjoyed watching Dish TV, computers, any elec-tronic gadget, music, putting up elaborate lighted Christmas decorations and his two dogs, Abby and Tasha. He especially loved spending time with his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Bradley Haugen Memorial Scholarship Fund for North Toole County High School Students will be estab-lished.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron, Jenna and family. Brad was always willing to help whether it was on the job or of a personal nature. Brad was an outstanding family man as well as an outstanding Immigration officer. He touched many lives and those that knew him can attest to that. He will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with Brad's family and friends and coworkers during this difficult time. Brad was friendly and helpful, even with the smallest of tasks, like when I asked him to help me (as a youngster) decipher the song "Bye Bye Miss American Pie." Brad will be missed by so many of the lives he touched.

.: I first met Brad about 25 years ago, when I visited Brad and Sharon in Sunburst MT, before the births of Jenna and Aaron. I knew Sharon from our University of Alberta days, Brad made me feel immediately welcome in their home. Subsequent visits to Sunburst allowed me the opportunity to get to know Aaron and Jenna as well. I last saw Brad in May 2005, on the day of Aaron's high school graduation. It was a great visit. I know from the few times I met him that he was a gracious and kind man, and loved his children deeply. I always felt welcome around him, and will not forget the kindness he showed me, and the good times shared with him, however briefly, in this life. My condolences and prayers to Aaron, Jenna, and Sharon, and to Brad's family as well at this time.

My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Brad. I didn't know Brad well but I had several occasions to work with him while I worked as a Customs Inspector at Coutts. I really like Brad and he always had a smile for you.

I was truly pained to hear of Brad's passing, and offer my deepest condolences to his family. I have know Brad professionally for many years, and he was a valued & respected peer, and as nice a man as I've ever met.
