Brosia Cashmore Obituary

Brosia Louise Cashmore

Great Falls —Brosia Louise "B" Cashmore (McDivitt), aged 71, passed peacefully with her sons and family by her side on Friday, April 11, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Kalispell, MT on September 3, 1942 to AC McDivitt and Brosia White McDivitt.

Brosia grew up in the Flathead Lake area and graduated from Polson high school in 1960. She married Robert William Cashmore in 1962. While raising their two young sons, she taught swim lessons, manned a crisis center hotline, and worked with The American Red Cross. Later Brosia worked at the Great Falls Bon Marche and then the Holiday Village Mall as marketing/advertising director. She was a longtime member of the Ad Club and an integral facilitator of the annual CM Russell Auction. In fact, Brosia was an artist in her own right.

Brosia was active and loved the outdoors. She hiked, golfed, skied, rode horses, ran barrels, played polo, bird watched, floated and hiked the Grand Canyon. People may remember her for her love of animals, especially dogs and horses. Brosia would light up any room with a smile, a laugh and her dry sense of humor. She was an avid reader, loved crossword and scrabble, and her friends describe her as fun, outgoing, indefatigable, yet independent, and stoic.

Brosia was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Billy. She is survived by sons Bourck (Renee) Cashmore of Flagstaff, AZ, Thain (Catherine) Cashmore of Pocatello, ID, grandchildren Reilly, Claire, Liam, Sasha and Jonah as well as her beloved dog Sophie. She is also survived by her sister Mary Ann (Jim) Ratchye, brother John McDivitt, stepmother Helen McDivitt.

Whenever asked if she needed anything, she would reply with a classic Brosia-ism, "No fine, I'm thanks". A celebration of her life will be held in Great Falls, and Flathead Lake MT later this summer.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, or Benefis Sletten Cancer Institute in Great Falls, MT.

I am shocked. Brosia was a wonderful person, friend, and neighbor. She was indeed multitalented. She was equally at home at a social event or in her barn, shoveling manure. My favorite memory will always be of her on her tractor, in a Bikini with a can of beer on the dashboard. Bourck and Thain, you had a great Mom.
