David Chambers Obituary

David Stewart Chambers

Missoula —Our beloved sweet husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 11, 2017 to join his beloved wife Shirley in Heaven. David was born April 25, 1935 to David and Alice Chambers at the Columbus Hospital in Great Falls, MT. He was raised at a ranch 12 miles southeast of Raynesford, MT. He attended grade school at the White School District #53, Judith Basin County for eight years. In 1948, his parents sold the ranch and the family moved to Great Falls. He attended Great Falls High School from 1948 to 1952. In 1953 he married his true love, Shirley Gorsich. They were married for 61 years until Shirley passed away in 2014.

Dave leaves behind children Theresa Stekly and Jean Ross (Joe) of Missoula, David Chambers (Valerie) of Everett, WA and Colleen Orr of Coeur D'Alene, ID. He was blessed with four grandchildren: Jennifer Fletcher of Great Falls, Cody Stekly (Pame) of Hillsboro, OR, Casey Stekly (Lynn-Wood) of Missoula and Jake Orr of London, England. His six beloved great-grandchildren are: Brody and Blake Fletcher of Great Falls, Archie and Luchita Stekly of Hillsboro, OR, and Bryton and Otis Stekly of Missoula. He leaves behind his brother and sister- in- law Joseph and Donna Chambers; sisters Alice Page and Janet Benson and sister-in-law Phyllis Chambers.

We remember David most for his gentle, kind demeanor, his sense of pride in his work and his very high standard of ethics which he taught to his children. His smile was contagious and he loved to tell jokes. He was a home furnishings salesman, a real estate broker and an automotive salesman. He loved sales and people, but his family most of all. He was very proud that he never took a sick day from work. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed profoundly.

Our family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Missoula and to Marti Erickson who was a dedicated caregiver to David until the end. We would also like to give tribute to our sister Theresa for her dedication and unconditional love while taking care of our Dad in her home after Shirley passed away. For that we are eternally grateful.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 1400 Gerald Ave., Missoula.
