Dawn Callison Obituary

Dawn Callison

Fort Benton —There will be a celebration of life for Dawn Callison Saturday November 23, 2013 at 2 pm at 1st Christian Church in Fort Benton Montana. All of Dawn's friends and family from Fort Benton, the Carter area and throughout Chouteau County are welcome to come and encouraged to share life experiences of her life as she lived her 88 years of life among you. 5 weeks ago Dawn suffered a severe life changing stroke that took her life November 18th 2013. Since Dawn's entire life was lived in Chouteau County with marriages to Pierre Peres and Tom Callison, she has produced many long term life long friends and a host of blended family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Please come and participate in this remembrance of her life. Bring your memories of her life and willingness to acknowledge them and her as her family invites you for this final review of her life before laying her to rest for eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Graveside services will follow along with a luncheon after the graveside services at the church. Please bring with you a memory so share - perhaps her passion for flowers, her commitment to friends, neighbors and church, her love of travel, her devotion to all her family - to many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren or her zest for life from days gone past. Her last years of life were filled with caring for her beloved Smokey the cat, shuffling the pinochle cards for another round at the senior citizen center, going to her church activities and driving her battle scarred Ford Taurus to the Falls to buy cat food. She was one of a kind to all those who knew her. Her family believes she would want each of those who knew her to remember her with your memories and reveal them to those who knew her best - her family - Her family invites you to come join them for a brief look at her life.

Our sympathy to Dawn's extended family. Tom and Dawn were our neighbors in Carter for many years and what great neighbors they were! I brought some of Dawn's flowers with me when we moved to the Flathead and think of her when they bloom.

May I add my condolences to the chorus of so many who knew and loved Dawn. During the years we were raising our respective families we lived just one block apart. I shall never forget her devotion to her family, her church and her friends and community. I always knew I could I could count on her in an emergency or just when I needed a cup of tea and a listening ear. She meant a great deal to me. The long hours we spent together working on flower shows, and her love of beauty, particularly in the natural world, will always be a precious memory to me. May the memories of the love you shared ease your hearts during this time of loss.

I am one person removed from close association with Dawn. This is because her daughter, Vicky, and I were friends in Helena before either of us were married. I met Dawn through Vicky here in Helena. I called on Dawn when my work took me through Fort Benton. I send my best wishes for healing hearts. I have found that one is never old enough to lose a parent without feeling like an orphan.

Aunt Dawn was a beautiful, loving lady who I will remember her for her smile, perfectly manicured yard and flower beds, and my sister Cheri shooting baskets to perfect her basketball game on Aunt Dawn's driveway. As a young child, Aunt Dawn always remembered us at Christmas with a perfectly wrapped present adorned by a Christmas ornament to hang on the tree. She loved her family and extended family so much and I wish I could be there to celebrate my Aunt's life. Love & Prayers to the family, Lana (Bratt) Broome
