Harold Krsul Obituary

Harold (Hal) Anthony Krsul

Great Falls —Hal Krsul, 89, of Great Falls, died of complications from pneumonia on Friday March 7, 2014 at Benefis Hospital.

At his request, no formal services are planned.

Hal was born on March 28, 1924 in Great Falls. He attended some school in Great Falls, and graduated from Fort Benton High School in 1942. He attended the University of Montana and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II and was active in the Army Reserve as a Construction Engineering Officer. During his military service, he met the love of his life, Alice Sorensen in Tivoli Gardens while in Copenhagen, Denmark, and upon returning to Montana, they were married in 1948.

Hal was employed by the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation for 25 years in Great Falls. He then accepted employment as a Hydrologist for the U.S. Corps of Engineers in Seattle, Washington, and transferred to North Dakota as a construction engineer on missile field sites. He retired in 1973, returning to Great Falls. After Federal retirement, Hal was employed as a project manager for Morrison¬Maierle Consulting Engineers. Hal also served on the Cascade County planning board.

Hal was an active coach in baseball little league, and was an avid downhill skier for many years, and loved the showdown ski area. Hal and Alice also enjoyed many vacation travels to Hawaii and Mexico, and they both loved to fish.

Survivors include daughters Janet (Hayes) Delisle and Gayle Snyder, both of Great Falls; grandchildren Ryan (Jennifer) Fritz, Zach, Tyler, and Matt Snyder, of Great Falls, Travis Krsul, Crystal and Jimmy Whitaker, of Lincoln NE; and niece, Karen (Bruce) Frost. Still a part of the family and equally loved are Rick Fritz and Kathy Krsul Cartwright.

Hal was preceded in death by his loving wife Alice Krsul; son Steven Krsul; sister Mary Bortvedt; mother Mary Piecek Krsul; father Nick Krsul; and brother, Albert Krsul.

We will miss his sparkling eyes, infectious smile and witty sense of humor. His kind and compassionate heart will live on with us forever.

Memorials can be sent to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.

My heartfelt condolence go out to Janet and Gayle and all the other family members that loved this wonderful man.. I was so blessed to have this family come into our lives.. The memories I have will remain with me forever. I could not have asked for a better father in law thn Hal. I loved him so much. The same goes for Alice. These two were the most wonderful couple I have ever met. I will truly miss Hal but my heart rejoices that he now has his memory back, he is with his beautiful loving wife, his beloved son and other family members. Someone once told me that our one year is one minute in God's year. Can you imagine the excitement that Alice and Steve felt knowing that Hal would soon be there!
