Ida Rule Obituary

MISSOULA - Longtime Great Falls resident Ida May "Jean" (Russell) Rule, 84, of Missoula, died of natural causes Nov. 20 at a Missoula hospital.
Her memorial service is noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the 10th Avenue V.F.W., 4123 10th Ave. S. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cremation and Burial Society of the Rockies in Missoula.
Survivors include a daughter, Hope (Brett) Dorman; sons Ed (Kathy) Rule and Scott Rule; six grandchildren, Thaddeus Rule, Rebecca Olmstead, Ryan Dorman, Rachel Dorman, Crystal Larson and Danielle-Riesenberg-Rule; two great-grandchildren; and a foster daughter, Jean L. Clampitt.
Jean was born July 10, 1925, in Lewistown where she was raised and educated. She married Lloyd "Lucky" Rule on Feb. 3, 1942, in Butte.
Jean was a full-time homemaker and mother until 1976, when she began her long history with Holiday Village Mall. She started at "R" Ladies Closet, gathering many loyal customers and dear friends. When the store closed, she moved to Jean Nicole Plus, bringing her customers with her. After Jean Nicole Plus closed, she decided to try the customer service center, greeting and helping people, until she retired in 1997.
She was a proud member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Over the years, she served as president, secretary, and, most important, "Mrs. Santa Claus." She was also a member of Holy Family Catholic Parish.
"Grandma" or "Aunt Jean" was how she was known best by her family and loyal, loving friends. She was most interested in taking care and helping those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lloyd "Lucky" Rule, on Feb. 12, 1992.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
"So when tomorrow starts without me
Don't think we're far apart.
For every time you think of me
I'm right here in your heart."

Miss Jean....you taught me so much about the retail world, I have great memories of you and JoAnne and Rose...the ladies of Jean Nicole Plus....I will never forget my life lessons from you. You were a remarkable woman who I truly would have thought would live forever. Heaven better watch out because the queen of fashion has arrived. I will forever remember you and will miss you dearly. To the family of Jean, you were truly blessed to have such a wonderful mother. My condolences are with you.

I just wanted to let Jeans family know what a great person they had for a mother. I worked with her through Jean Nicole and that gal could put a smile on anyones face no matter what type of day you were having. If you needed a shoulder, hug or a fuuny story she was the one to deliver! I think of her often especially when I dive by her house. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I regret I will not be able to attend Jeans memorial as I have a family funeral in Havre the same day. Sincerely, Darlene Knutson
