Irene Dempsey Obituary
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Croxford Funeral Home, followed by a reception at the San Remo Casino.
Survivors include her children Lisa T. Weydemeyer and Leroy L. Dempsey of Great Falls and Paula C. Dempsey of Jacksonville, Ark.; her grandchildren Seth R. Abbott of Seattle, Wash., Rachel S. Abbott and Ciara Plymale of Great Falls, Darrell Dempsey and Amanda Driver of Charlotte, N.C., and Brittinie Dempsey of Augusta, Ga,; and a great-granddaughter, Kira Lee Abbott of Great Falls.
Irene was born June 22, 1946, in Rexford, Mont. She was raised in Eureka and attended schools there.
She married Leroy E. Dempsey in Las Vegas, Nev., in 1967. Together they built and owned the "Sailboat," a bar, bingo parlor and restaurant in Great Falls. Irene sold Avon in the 1970s, and at the time of her death she drove shuttle for the railroad and worked part-time at the Dollar Tree.
Irene was a gifted gardener and her flowers will still bring us all joy and beauty. She was famous for her family meals, which were all feasts. She was also a cat lover and rescued many to give them a loving home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, several sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
Irene will be missed more than any words can express. She was a joy to all of us.

Although we weren't in touch over the last few years, I feel the pain of the loss of your mother. I will keep all of you in my prayers and only know that she is in a better place, visiting with old friends and loved ones.

I have known Irene for many years, her daughter, Paula, and I have been best friends for over 30 years. Irene was such an awesome lady, with a wonderful sense of humor. I will never forget her. She was like a mom to me growing up. She will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her children and grandchildren.

I met Irene in the summer of 83 through her son Leroy, as we became good friends i also met her two daughters Lisa And Paula. she was a kind a considerate person but also had the ability to let you know whats on her mind. Irene will be missed by many. To all her children and grandchildren my deepest sympathy.

I loved Irene's willingness to tell it like it is. Tough as she may have seemed she had a very soft heart for those of us that were around her. I will miss her dearly.
