A prayer vigil service is 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church. Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jude, with burial in Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the parish center after the burial. Holland and Bonine Funeral Home of Havre is in charge of arrangements.

Jim passed away May 26, 2008, with family and friends by his side.
James Joseph Preite was born Oct. 26, 1930, in Havre, Mont., to Eugene and Emelia Preite of Havre. He had four brothers and a sister. He attended Saint Jude's Grade School and Havre High School.
He was inducted into the Army in 1951. Although he never mentioned it much, Jim was proud of his military service record in the Korean War.
After the war ended, Jim returned to Havre to marry the love of his life, Carol Kuehni. He returned to continue working for the Great Northern Railroad and later with North Central Senior Center. Jim was very much involved with the Hill County senior community. He participated in various committee assignments and was passionate in his work with seniors. He had many friends at the center and dearly loved his close associates Leona Larsen, Gwen Goar, Evelyn and Duane Havskjold.
Jim had a long association with softball, including men and women's, and was the captain of the Havre Senior Center Pool Team(s).
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, as well as everyone who had the fortune to be touched by his kindness and concern.
Jim was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Carol; his brothers Frank, Pasquale and Robert; an infant sister; and his parents.

To all the Preite Family,

I so loved your Dad very much, I will always remember how much he loved Jami and how he would always make time to spend time with her by watching wrestling and going to Rods. He was always so nice to all of Jami's friends and I know that he is up in Heaven looking down on his family and smiling and is by his sweet wife's side.
I love all of you and if you need anything please let me know. You are in my prayers.

Dear Cousins, Amy, Nancy, Frank, Laura, Barbara, and Jamie...
Julie and I were deeply saddened to receive word about Cousin Jim. We knew he was not well and frequently thought about him. Know that your father loved his family very much, and all of you were so caring and loving to him through his long illness. He is no longer suffering and is in the hands of the Lord. Take comfort in this and the many wonderful memories you shared with your dad. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. We are so sorry that we will not be able to attend Mass and services as we are in California. Our hearts and prayers are with you.
Love...Cousins Rudy and Julie

Nancy, Barb, Amy, Frank, Laura and Jamie, May our sweet Jesus bring peace and comfort at this great time of sorrow to each and every one of you along with your families. I will miss your dad too. After all, I feel like part of the family. He was an inspiration especially in his love for the elderly people, though we thought it odd when we were young. He had a great love for all of you and I know saying you will miss him is an under statement. Big hugs and lots of prayers for each of you.

Love, Jayne
