Jean Gruenhagen Obituary

KENNEDALE, Texas - Air Force veteran and former Great Falls resident Jean Shirley Gruenhagen, 77, of Kennedale, Texas, died after an extended illness June 17 at a hospital in Mansfield, Texas.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel, Arlington, Texas, with inurnment in Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
Survivors include her husband, Robert W. Gruenhagen of Kennedale; two daughters, Susan (James) Schrade of Arlington and Stephanie Ball of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Hilary (Hervey) Ely of Fort Worth, Texas, Laura Ball of Mansfield, Emily Bailey of Arlington and Nathan Ball of Mansfield; a sister, Margie (Eska) Wilson of Fullerton, Calif.; two brothers, Harold (Aurelia) Law of Gardena, Calif., and Edward Law of Beaver, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Beverly Johnston of Great Falls; and nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends.
Jean Shirley Gruenhagen was born June 27, 1928, in Somerville, Mass. She graduated from Medford High School and served in the Air Force during the Korean War, where she met and married her husband of 54 years, Robert W. Gruenhagen.
They were married July 4, 1952, in Las Vegas. She and her husband settled in Great Falls for 13 years, later moving to Arlington, Texas, in 1966.
Jean was involved in numerous volunteer programs including assisting with patterning for disabled children. In her forties she returned to school and became a licensed vocational nurse. She worked for several years at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Jean was an active member of the Arlington Women's Club, where she was very involved with duplicate bridge. She greatly enjoyed the competition of playing bridge.
Jean was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
