Jim Donahue Obituary

Jim Donahue

Great Falls —Jim Donahue, attorney, animal activist and life-long resident of Great Falls, Montana, has passed away.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at O'Connor Memorial Chapel in Great Falls, Montana, 2425 8th Avenue North. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Humane Society of Cascade County (hsccgf.org) or by mail at P.O. Box 1774, Great Falls, Montana 59403.

The son of Jim and Ida Donahue of Public Drug in Great Falls, Jim attended Great Falls High School then Stanford University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1987. After graduating Stanford, he was a Chip Design Engineer at NCR and was awarded U.S. patents for his contributions. He earned a law degree at the University of Minnesota Law School and was Deputy County Attorney for Cascade County in Great Falls and a Justice of the Peace. Jim joined the law firm of Davis, Hatley, Haffeman & Tighe in 2001 and was a partner there practicing insurance defense, criminal defense and personal injury law.

Jim was always the "fun, cool uncle" who was passionate about muscle cars and rescuing animals, often fostering several dogs at the same time that he worked to find homes for others. He was very active in the Humane Society of Cascade County here in Great Falls and also served as its president for a number of years.

Jim is survived by his sister, Patricia, her husband Steve, Jim's two nephews, Ryan and Jack…and the hundreds of animals that he helped rescue.

Jim worked for me at the CA's office and he was simply a great guy - hard working, a team player and fun to be around. I'm deeply saddened by his death and my prayers and thoughts go out to his family.

Remember him fondly from school. He was so much smarter than the rest of us!

I too was Jim's neighbor growing up, we lived across the alley! I also went to school at Holy Family and GFHS with him! He was a great guy and had a wonderful creative mind! So sorry for your lose.

"Jimmy" and I knew each other as children. We were neighbors, one house over. We always had fun together. My condolences go out to Patrica, the only living relative that I know. May God comfort you, and ease your pain. It's sad to know Jim is gone, but he lives in our hearts, and our lives are richer because of him.
