Jim Rummel Obituary

Jim Rummel

Mohave Valley - Jim was born in Dickinson, North Dakota May 10th, 1946 to Margaret Horener Rummel and William Rummel. He passed away on March 12th, 2018 at the age of 71.

Jim was as anybody that knew him could attest, a different type of guy. With Jim there were no shades of grey. He was black and white. He was at times the most generous, gregarious and wonderful man you could ever meet. And he could be a most difficult man at times as well.

He was a successful Oil and Gas Broker/Landman who excelled in his field. It was said of him that he could sell a glass of sand to an Arab Sheik in the desert. In his earlier years as the oil and gas would come and go he also sold life Insurance and did carpenter work. Jim was an avid Hunter and Fisherman as well. He had a lifelong love of guns that developed into collecting them as he got older. He was fascinated by history, particularly the world war two era. He was a brilliant man who could recite Shakespeare from memory. He also wrote short stories and poetry as a young man in college. He was an accomplished piano player as well as playing the sax and was a very good accordion player. He taught himself to play the accordion after buying one at a pawn shop. He could do anything he set his mind to and had a natural talent for music. He enlisted in the Army at 17 and served 3 years in Germany next to the Berlin Wall during the cold war. Jim followed the oil and gas business and lived on the road for a large part of his life. He was a private pilot with an instrument and twin rating as well. He loved his Cessna 180 the most and dearly missed flying later in life. After retirement he moved to Fort Mohave where he purchased several properties, living in Mohave Valley and renting several others. He was a father, brother, mentor and a good friend.

He is survived by his brother Randy Rummel of Cut bank, children Gar{Maurya}Rummel grandchildren Kale and Callen of El Paso, TX; Karen{Paul Morrissey} grandchildren Alexis, Daniel, Tristan, and Grace of Sunnyvale, CA; Ann{Mike}Rummel of Cut Bank, MT and granddaughter Brooke Ball, Dallas, TX

Throughout his life Jim was a gambler with a good nose for an opportunity, winning most and losing a few. Jim lost his final gamble on March 12th after a short illness.

Rest in peace Jim, now you can be with your brother and sisters that have passed. I remember the time you and Randy come to Great Fall and visit my mom and dad.
