Kathleen was a music teacher who taught flute and piano privately since 1966. She was a member and past president of the Indiana Federation of Music Clubs, (IFMC) and a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in South Bend.

Kathleen grew up in Monarch and Belt, Montana, graduating from Belt High School where her mother Eva was a long-time teacher. She was a music performance major and received a BA degree from Washington State University in 1966. At WSU she was a student of Randall Spicer and received awards for flute performance. Following graduation she, Dennis, and son Mark moved to Montebello, California where she taught flute and piano lessons. Upon their final family move to Elkhart, IN she retired from most teaching activities with exceptions made for a few area students and for her granddaughter Mariah. She occasionally played piano for her church during her final years. Kathleen enjoyed sewing, knitting, and was an avid reader.

I was saddened to read that Kathy lost her battle with cancer. As one of her classmates I heard she would not make it to our 50th class reunion last summer due to health issues. I thought if anyone could beat it, Kathy could.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
