Norman Mick Obituary

Norman John Mick

Butte, Montana —On the morning of January 15, 2015, Norman passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side, after suffering from a brief illness.

Norman was born in Great Falls, MT, on July 16, 1926. One of eight children born to Agnes and Otto Mick. After growing up and working on the family farm, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the ordinance department during the Korean War. Upon his discharge he married A. Lavonne Neal and settled in Great Falls, where they raised their two children Roger and Judy. Eventually Norman divorced, marrying his current wife Virginia, a union which brought a stepdaughter Lisa into his life. Norman and Virginia were soul mates, inseparable until his passing.

Master of many skills, Norman worked for the Anaconda Company for many years, retiring as a foreman at the company's Wire Mill.

Norman was an avid sportsman. He loved the outdoors, spending much of his spare time hunting, fishing and hiking. Always a true mentor, he enjoyed sharing his abilities with those who accompanied him. He spent much of the time in these activities with the Neal family, always keeping them in his heart.

Loved by many, he was a true "gentle-man" in the best sense of the word. His kind heart, sense of humor and firm handshake have left a profound imprint on us all.

Furthermore, a private man, Norm nevertheless had a number of close personal friends. He possessed strong self-discipline and was the perfect example of the very best of the Best Generation.

Norman is survived by his wife Virginia, son Roger, daughter Judy, and stepdaughter Lisa, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Agnes Mick, and siblings Joseph, Leon, Teresa, Pearl, Lillian, Ann, and Dorothy.

In accordance with his wishes, his remains have been cremated and a memorial service will be held for family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Anaconda Pintler Hospice, Pintler Pets or to a charity of donor's choice.

The family will be forever grateful for the care provided Norm by the staff at Community Hospital of Anaconda.

Axelson Alternative Cremation is privileged to serve Norman's Family.
