Robert Morgan Obituary

CUT BANK - Bob Morgan, 70, a lifelong Cut Bank resident, died of pneumonia Monday at a Kalispell hospital.
His services are 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cut Bank. Arrangements are under the direction of Buffalo Hill Funeral Home in Kalispell.
Bob passed away Aug. 17, 2009, from pneumonia, after a courageous five-year battle with leukemia.
Robert Edward Morgan was born Nov. 29, 1938, in Great Falls, and was the oldest of seven children born to Jean and Harry Morgan. He was proud to be a Cut Bank Wolf, and shared many fond memories of his years playing football for Cut Bank High School. He graduated from Kinman Business College in Spokane, and spent some time with the Air Force Reserve in Great Falls. He worked for the Employment Service in Cut Bank for several years before taking over his dad's painting business with his brother, Tom. In 1963 he married Karen Scheldorf. They had two children, Eric and Nancy.
Bob was an active outdoorsman and loved hunting with his family around Cut Bank. He gave back to the sport of hunting by teaching hunter safety classes for more than 30 years. Bob was a strong supporter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He loved driving bus for Cut Bank Schools after semi-retiring from his painting business, and was loved by the community as a whole. Bob always had a smile and kind word for friends and strangers.
He was treated for leukemia in 2004, at the University of Washington and had five wonderful years, thanks to the stem cells of his sister, Barb, whom he referred to as "his angel." Since that time, he was able to watch his grandsons play dozens of ballgames and meet his granddaughter, Kira. He loved living in Cut Bank and lived a rich life surrounded by his family and friends. His beloved wife Karen retired to care for him, and was the light of his life.
Highlights of Bob's recent life were his trips to Seattle to be with Nancy, Jeff and Kira, and fishing trips with the Morgan Boys (brothers, sons, sons-in-law and a grandson) off the coast of Vancouver Island on the Pacific Ocean. He brought back salmon and halibut, along with many tales of their adventures. He looked forward each year to the hunting trips with his son, Eric, and daughter-in-law, Pam, and proudly harvested a moose in 1992. With an amazing knack for spotting game, Eric and Pam always felt luck was on their side when they hunted with Papa. One of Bob's proudest moments was watching his grandson, Ty, harvest his first buck.
Bob is survived by Karen, his wife of 46 years; his two children, Eric Morgan (Pam) of Columbia Falls, and daughter Nancy Thompson (Jeff) of Bothell, Wash.; his four grandchildren, Ty, Drew, Cade and Kira; his brothers, Dennis Morgan of Havre, and Tom Morgan of Cut Bank; and his sisters, Carol Morgan of Cut Bank, Colleen Gillund of Sunburst, and Barb Buechler of Malta.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Morgan, of Mukilteo, Wash., in 2003.
Memorials can be sent to the Cut Bank Senior Citizen's Center or the Cut Bank Alumni Association.

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love.”

Washington Irving
