Roderick Peterson Obituary
great falls —Roderick Earl Peterson, 91, of 2621 9th Ave. S., a retired electrical engineer, passed away August 19, 2016 at The Grandview. His graveside service will be held Monday, August 22, 2016 at 1:00 PM, with burial in Highland Cemetery. Croxford Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Rod was born March 16, 1925, in Great Falls, MT, where he also was raised. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1943 and from Montana State College (now MSU) in 1948 with a bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering. He married Betty Knopes of Havre, MT, in 1951 in Washington, D.C. They had four children: daughter Bonita K. Kramer of Bozeman, and sons John F. Peterson of Helena, Earl V. Peterson of Mission Hills, Calif., and Gary R. Peterson of Gaithersburg, Md. Additional survivors include three grandchildren: Yubi Peterson of California, and David and Kyle Kramer of Bozeman, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Rod worked for the U. S. Department of Agriculture, REA, from 1948 - 1985, in addition to serving in the Army from 1950 - 1952 at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Rod was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents, John and Eva (McKay) Peterson; and brothers, Lowell, Lyle, Merle, Dale, and Delbert.
