Spencer Lewis Obituary
A vigil is 7 p.m. today at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Cut Bank, with funeral Mass there at 4 p.m. Monday. Whitted Funeral Chapel of Cut Bank is handling arrangements.
He was born March 28, 1991, in Cut Bank, the son of Mark and Joyce (Gustafson) Lewis. He graduated from Cut Bank High School in 2009 as a valedictorian, was an all-state football player, and state champion doubles player in tennis for the Wolves. He just finished his junior year at Montana Tech, where he was majoring in mechanical engineering. He was an active member of the ASME club and on the Dean's List.
Spencer was a dedicated donor of his 0 negative blood to the Red Cross or blood services. He enjoyed lifting weights, playing racquetball, basketball, poker and spending time with his family and friends. He was the best "fencer" on the Lewis farm. His infectious laugh and smile could light up a room.
Spencer is survived by his parents, Mark and Joyce of Cut Bank; his brother Matthew of Shreveport, La.; his brother, Kyle, and wife Katie of Colstrip; his paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Lewis of Cut Bank; and maternal grandmother Alice Gustafson of Billings.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Gustafson and John Lewis.

I miss you so much Turbo. I loved you like you were a son that I didn't have to give birth to. Not a day goes by I don't think of you, and while you still live in our hearts, you will never really be gone. Stop in and check on me once in a while, I'd love to feel your presence and it would do wonders for my broken heart! Peace to you Spence.

Our son Keith Mullan played football with Matt when Matt was a senior leader on the Tech team and Keith was a frosh. I knew of you because I am Keith's mom and I am from Cut Bank, the youngest daughter of Floyd and Maxine Armstrong. (I graduated from CBHS 1973.) I always wanted to come introduce myself to you, but I didn't. When Keith told me about Spencer, our family was sick with grief. You see, our families go back a long time. My dad Floyd and your grandfather Johnny Lewis served on the bank board together, and as a child, we lived in the house on 5th Ave. S.E. built by your great grandfather. Keith's cousins, Coley and Jacob Armstrong, knew your boys, of course. My son Keith always spoke highly of both Matt and Spencer. I am so sorry you lost your beautiful son. Keith wavered about attending the funeral, and I finally (after the fact) figured out that he wanted me to go with him--too much sorrow in that cemetary without family support and now a friend. You know that boys don't always come right out and tell you what they need. We will pray for you and your family. We will hope that time will bring you peace.

Spenc was a one of a kind person that we can never forget. I'm honored that I got the chance to know and be friends with him. Our class of 2009 will never be the same again. He was an amazing person that touched everyone's lives. There will not be a day that goes on that I don't think of him and hear his laugh in my head. Hearts are hurting everywhere, but in time we will be able to laugh at all the stories we will remember of spencer. And to Joyce, mark, Kyle, and Matt, my prayers are with you guys. Stay strong for each other in this time of sadness. We all love you spencer and can't wait to see you again. Watch over all of us.

I will always remember walking into French Class every morning and seeing that smile on Spencer's face. Spence had the most infectious smile and laugh. He will be missed. Prayers to the Lewis family. Phil. 4:13

Thoughts and prayers go out to your family. I work at Mandan High School with James and Ronda. He was taken way too young but I guess God has his plan and only he knows what it is. Bless you all.

I cannot express the sorrow felt with the loss of Spencer. He was an awsome kid growing up-one of our own kids. We will miss him and he will be in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Spencer's friends and families. The Lord be with all of you.

I didn't know Spencer nor his family personally, but I always like 'checking' on my 'family' back home in MT. It always breaks my heart a little bit more when such an accomplished young man is taken from us and for why? BUT God has a bigger plan...one to prosporous and bring us joy. He has for awhile through Spencer and will cont. through his spirit here on earth! Prayers to his friends and family.

God called an angel home on May 3. Deep in my heart your smile and that unexplainable light in your eye will always be. I ran up the swimming pool hill today, and i normally have to take a little break. But i sprinted up it today, It was like someone was giving me extra strength. Love you spen Lewi your body may be gone but i know youll will always be with us. Im glad your battle here on earth is done. your one of the lucky ones, home with the lord! Cant wait to see you done day.

Spencer was one of those kids that wrapped you around his finger and owned a piece of your heart. His smile, laugh and twinkle in his eye will be sorely missed by all. I always cherished his visits to my office when he was home. We grieve with you all and pray that you will find comfort from our heavenly Father.

Mark, Joyce, Matt, Kyle and all of Spencer's family,
I know there are no words that can express the sorrow you feel right now. Spencer was truely a special person. Always ready to help any one who needed it. He did it with a smile and great humor.
