Wendell Thacker Obituary
His memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Lawn Chapel followed by a reception at Schnider Funeral Home.
Wendell was born Aug. 2, 1919, in Falls City, Neb., to Otho and Olive (Hanna) Thacker. He was the youngest of eight children, all of whom are deceased.
He attended high school in Dawson, Neb., and then the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Wendell served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was an agronomist working with soil conservation services in landmark research in saline seep, and he enjoyed photography, hiking and travel.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. Thacker, of Conrad; sons John (Linda) Koontz of Olathe, Kan., and David (Robin) Koontz of Missoula; daughter Barbara (Mike) Habets of Conrad; and four grandchildren, Cindy Peterson, Jenny Holt, Joe Koontz and Stephen Habets.
Wendell was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Thacker; and a granddaughter, Amy Habets.
