Darryl “Big Thacker

Darryl Allen "Big D" Thacker, 53, of Sadieville, Kentucky, passed peacefully on February 22, 2026, in the home he built with his own two hands on his dream farm, Stubborn Acres - surrounded by his four children.

To know Darryl was to know a presence. He was a kind, gentle, wildly large soul who filled every room he walked into. He didn't know a stranger - only friends he hadn't met yet. His laugh was unmistakable, his spirit magnetic, and his loyalty unwavering. He made an impact on more lives than he likely ever realized, and the community that surrounds his family today is a reflection of the man he was.

Above all, Darryl was a father to Shyanne (Jacob Akers), Dalton Thacker, Owen Thacker, and Maryn Thacker. They were his pride, his purpose, and his greatest accomplishment. He loved them fiercely and without condition.

Darryl was never one to shy away from a challenge. Fear simply wasn't part of his vocabulary. He will be remembered not only for being the life of the party and always up for a good time, but for his stubborn strength and his unwavering ability to show up when it mattered most. If you needed him, he was there. No hesitation.

Big D built a life the way he built his home - solid, intentional, and with heart. His legacy lives on in the roads he traveled, the things he created, the fights he won, the friendships he forged, and most importantly, in his children.

Darryl was preceded in death by his father, Harold Thacker; his mother, Gladys Montgomery; his stepfather, Larry Montgomery; and many fallen club brothers, sisters and dear friends.

He is survived by his children; his brothers Darrick and Darrin Thacker; his sister Darrla Vaughn; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will continue carrying his stories forward.

A Celebration of Life will be held following the Poker Run hosted by MAHRA on May 9, 2026. Additional details will be shared by the family in the coming weeks.

Though his time here was far too short, Darryl lived more in 53 years than many do in a lifetime. He leaves behind a community better for having known him and a family forever proud to carry his name.
