William Joseph Kleinsasser

Augusta —William J. Kleinsasser, 92, of Elk Creek Colony, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 of natural causes at his home surrounded by family. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 27 at 11:30 AM at Elk Creek Colony followed by burial at Elk Creek Colony Cemetery.

William was born on November 2, 1924 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, to Joseph and Susie Kleinsasser, who helped build Milford Colony in Augusta, Montana. In 1947, at 23 years of age, he moved to Milford Colony where he resided until February of 2011. From there he moved to Elk Creek Colony where he resided until his passing.

William was the colony secretary for 41 years at Milford Colony, always striving to do the best he could for the colony. He had many friends and was well respected as a business man.

After retiring, he helped at the Garden packing facility, packing vegetables and potatoes. He loved to sing and read the Bible, and taking care of a special nephew, Chris Wurtz for 30-plus years.

William married Sarah J. Hofer from Milford Colony on November 25, 1948. They spent 60 wonderful years together. They had one son, William (Ruth) Kleinsasser; daughters Mary (John) Wipf, Susie W. Kleinsasser, all from the Elk Creek Colony, Katie (John) Hofer of Seville Colony and Sarah (Mike) Hofer of Midway Colony.

William is survived by his brothers, Rev. John and Peter J. Kleinsasser from Elk Creek Colony; sisters, Magdalena S. Hofer of Hillcrest Colony, Susie J. Wipf of Riverview Colony, Annie E. Hofer of Milford Colony and Mary P. Wipf of Martinsdale Colony; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his wife Sarah on January 10, 2009, two sons, a daughter, as well as two brothers: Joseph and Paul Kleinsasser.
