Dorothy Peif

1927 - 2021

Dorothy Peif, 93 of Greeley, passed away Feb. 12th surrounded by family at her daughter's home. Dorothy was born May 6, 1927 in Greeley to Fred and Elizabeth (Woit) Martin. Dorothy grew up in Greeley and attended Greeley High School. In 1945, she met the love of her life, Albert Peif Sr. They married Feb. 7, 1946. After farming in Fort Morgan, they moved to Greeley. Dorothy's love for cooking led them to open Al's Diner, known for its fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, and German sausage omelets. They ran the diner together until Al's passing December 28, 1986. Dorothy continued to run Al's Diner by herself until 1997. She was a Greeley Stampede Gold Spur. The Gold Spur members enjoyed the food she provided for rodeo performances. Dorothy was an avid Rockies and Broncos fan. Sports were a big part of her life. She played softball as a young woman and was on a bowling team until age 83. Dorothy is survived by three children: Diane (Jim) Walker, of Conway, AR; Albert (Anne) Peif, Jr. of Greeley; and Sherrie Peif of Evans; grandchildren: Michelle (Mike) Santeramo, Brenda (Monte) Ferrell, Ryan Peif, Andrea (Kevin) Greene and Braydon Peif; greatgrandchildren: Tyler Ryan, Andrew Ferrell, Ivy (Jay) Counts, Ryker Peif, Lexi and Kase Greene; great-great-grandchildren: Avery and Jack Counts. Preceded in death by her husband Albert Peif Sr., seven brothers, three sisters, and three half-siblings. Graveside services are 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 26th at Linn Grove Cemetery, 1700 Cedar Ave., Greeley. Reception 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Mason's Event Center, 829 10th Ave., Greeley.
