Iva Bjorneby

1931 - 2022

Iva Jane Bjorneby, 90, of Greeley passed away on May 4, 2022 in Fort Collins, CO. She was born October 4, 1931 in Brockton, MA to Robert and Flora (Cochrane) Chapman. The family farmed and ranched in Cuba, Detroit and later settled in Tampa, Florida. Iva graduated from Hillsboro High School in Tampa, Florida and later received her Masters from Troy State University while living in Germany. She married Walter Elliot Bjorneby in Tampa and later traveled the world with his Air Force career. She worked as a high school teacher and social worker, volunteered with the American Red Cross and helped to fundraise for a children's mentoring organization in Greeley for many years. After her husband retired from AIMS, they enjoyed traveling in their RV throughout the western United States, watching meteor showers and taking in the ocean. Thankful to have shared her life include her two daughters; Karen Bjorneby and Lisa Bjorneby, four grandchildren; Lorianne, Elizabeth, Roger and Asha and a great-granddaughter, Aria Jane. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter and her siblings; Art Chapman and Laura Chapman Hill. Iva will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
