Michael Birleffi Obituary

Michael John Birleffi passed away at home in Denver on January 15, 2021, at the age of 65, after a hard fought battle with an extremely complicated open heart surgery in January 2020, followed by a diagnosis six month later of pancreatic cancer, with perseverance & grace. Mike was a United States Army Veteran. He loved God, our country, family and friends, the cabin and to travel. Mike was a positive, kind, and a fun individual that strived to improve himself. He would frequently quote a friend that said, "Never look back always move forward". Mike has a son Anthony Michael, daughter-in-law Cami, grandchildren Madison, Allannah, and Ellanor from Wisconsin and a daughter Taylor Rive', granddaughter Josie from Texas. Two brothers Jeff (son Patrick); Brad (daughter Ashley), (wife Donna) and a sister Vicky Schommer (husband Dan, sons Nick and Matt). Michael was also surrounded by several cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles, and Karen Magnuson. Mike's parents John and Betty preceded him. Private family services will be at Mount Olivet followed by Military Honors at Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley, Co. A Special thank you to the staff at VA hospital of Aurora and Denver Hospice. They were awesome and supportive to Michael and his family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the pancan.org (the pancreatic action network).

Michael,

You have touched our lives in so many ways. I remember you used to sneak us Snickers ice cream and pretend we didn't know why there was less in the box. You made me laugh until I cried so many times and your smile was contagious. You will truly be missed but not forgotten. You always supported me and would check in to offer support. I will miss our random chats and your gym progress. Loved but not forgotten...RIP.

I worked with Mike back in the 70’s for a brief time. He was my delivery helper on the beer truck at McDoy Dist Co. Always entertaining, man I loved that kid! Always called him “Fluffy” for his curly hair. Great memories of him. My prayers for the family. Stan Holstein
