Mike Prall

1933 - 2023

Michael Prall, Jr., 90, of Greeley passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023. He was born January 23, 1933 in Waltersdorf, Romania to Michael and Maria (Eberth) Prall. At a young age, his family moved to Austria and then immigrated to the United States on April 13, 1952, settling in Windsor. Mike worked on a farm east of Windsor for two years before being drafted into the U.S. Army on May 5, 1954. He served for two years before being honorably discharged on May 4, 1956. After returning from the service, he began working for Great Western Sugar Company as a crane operator, advancing to assistant master mechanic. He worked for locations in Eaton, Loveland, Nebraska and finished in Longmont with shipping and receiving. On September 29, 1956, Mike married Brigitte Polok in Windsor, Colorado and settled there near Mike's parents. Eventually Mike and Brigitte moved to Greeley in 1960 and purchased their first home. Over the years five boys came along and were his pride and joy. This Year would have marked 67 years of marriage! Mike enjoyed gardening; growing tomatoes, roses, radishes, and peppers. Mike also had amazing talents as a woodworker and welder. Music was very important, and, on many occasions, you could find him playing a tune on his harmonica. When not enjoying one of his many hobbies you would find him fishing and just enjoying the great outdoors. When the boys were younger you could find him taking them boating and waterskiing on many summer weekends. He also was an avid gun collector. They were former members of Gloria Christi Lutheran Church, a former member of the Moose Lodge and loved going dancing to the Edelweiss Club in Denver. Mike's kind and giving demeanor was evident, especially to his five boys and he was always there to lend a neighbor a hand if anything needed fixed or repaired. Mike is survived by his wife, Brigitte, five sons; Jonny (Mary), Dana, Mark, Kevin (Layne) and Kim Prall, eight grandchildren; Tara (Adam), Colton (Amity), Payton, Autumn, Logan, Michael, Tony (Bernadette) and Ryan, eight great-grandchildren; Finley, Taylor, Aric, Jonni Marie, Austen, Liam, Charlotte and Amelia. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, John and Katherina and his daughter-in-law, Hallie.
