Barbara Kananen Obituary
Crivitz - Barbara Jean Kananen (Barb), 83, Town of Beaver, passed away on June 7, 2021. She was born in Green Bay to Lura C. (Fifield) Goddard and Orville Goddard on December 17, 1937. Barb attended West High School and later NWTC. Barbara worked for many years at the Burger Barn in Howard and made the signature "Uncle Buck's Chili". Later she became a CAN and worked at Grancare in Green Bay and after moving to Beaver, worked at NewCare Convalexcent Center in Crivitz. Barb is survived by her husband John of 62 years (63 years on June 14th), daughter Valerie Hoehnke (husband Scott), son Jeff Kananen (wife Lynn). Grandchildren are Holly (Kananen) Van Eyck (husband Andy), Brad Hoehnke, Kurt Kananen (wife Christa), Timothy Hoehnke (deceased). Great Grandchildren Jack Van Eyck, Nolan VanEyck, Carter VanEyck, Osias Kananen, Edelle Kananen, and Gemma VanEyck. Siblings James Goddard (wife Cynthia), Orville Goddard (wife Diane), Paulette Johnson (husband Donald). In-laws Sandy Kananen, Linda Goddard, Daniel Kananen (wife Cathy), and David DeVowe. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She has two Godchildren, Julie (Johnson) LeMere and Brenda Depandu. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jane and Shirley, Brothers Richard and Larry, brother-in-law William Kananen, sister-in-law Leona DeVowe, sister and brother-in-law Betty and Ray LaFever, and grandson Timothy. Barb loved her flowers, hummingbirds, and collection of hummingbird figurines. She was also an ardent fan of the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will take place on June 19th, 2021 at the Crivitz Village Hall between 11am-2pm. Refreshments will be served. A special thank you to all the nurses and staff at Aurora Bay Care ICU and Dr. Shalini for her compassionate care. Donations will be given to the Salvation Army. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dear Jeff, My wife Tammy and I want to express our deepest condolences to you and your extended family. We know the loss you are feeling can only be eased by the fondest memories you share about your mom. She will rest in peace knowing her family's cherished love for her lives on.
