C. John Lampkin Obituary
C. John Lampkin, 65, Green Bay, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at his home. He was born July 23, 1951, in Washington, D.C., son of the late Cline and Mary Lampkin. John graduated from Dundalk High School in Maryland and St. Norbert College with a degree in communications. He married Mary Sanders on December 22, 1978 at St. Norbert College Parish.
John served the City of Green Bay as a Police Officer for over 30 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2004. While an officer, John helped establish and served as a staff member for the new 911 Center for the City of Green Bay. After his retirement from law enforcement, he served as Communication Specialist and was responsible for maintaining the integrity of all radio equipment and communication towers in Brown County. He served on the Board of Directors for the Family Violence Center, and enjoyed speaking to civic clubs and organizations in the area.
John loved being with his family and was always there for them. He was a loving stepfather for 40 years, and was a man of great integrity. John loved the community he served.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Mary; step-sons, Chad Gribble, and Mark Gribble, both of Green Bay; two grandsons, Jeffrey VanCampenhout and Justin Rezek; brothers, James Lampkin and Richard (Alison) Lampkin; half-sister, Cathy Kresment; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; half-sister, Margaret Kresment; and his step-daughter, Deena VanCampenhout.
Family and friends may visit Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay, on Friday, October 21, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Dr., Green Bay, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m., with Fr. Mark VanderSteeg officiating. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

On behalf of the Dundalk High School Class of 1969, we offer our condolences on the loss of our classmate John. We have just learned of his passing. The world is a little sadder without him in it. He is remembered by his classmates as always happy and cheerful, always had a smile on his face. and as a quiet, gentle giant. We will miss him.

Sorry to hear about John's passing. He was my NWTC Instructor in recruit training, and left a great impact on me during my time as a deputy sheriff in Manitowoc County. He was a good mentor during my career in Law Enforcement and as a co-worker at Baycom. He is sadly missed.

I had the pleasure of working with John during the design and build phases of our new public safety radio communications system here in Outagamie County. John was most helpful, and expressed a true passion and concern for providing the best communications systems to public safety personnel in northeast Wisconsin.

I was surprised and saddened to hear of John's passing. I appreciated his willingness to pass his knowledge and experience along as we navigated an extended process to replace our radio system. He will be missed in our community.
