David Roscoe Obituary

Roscoe, David J.

David J. Roscoe, age 71, of Manitowoc, entered eternal rest on September 19, 2017 at his home with his wife and very special step-daughter by his side.

David was born on December 25, 1945 in Sturgeon Bay. He spent youthful summers picking strawberries, cherries and apples. David loved family weekends at Horseshoe Bay and Egg Harbor. He was a graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School in 1964. David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after high school. He then traveled the US doing photography and worked at various photography studios throughout the years including Welnetz Studio from 1984-1990. David also installed carpet and owned rental properties that he managed with his wife. In his retirement, he enjoyed taking trips to Colorado and touring the Western US, often on his motorcycle. David also enjoyed creating folk art "critters" from old tools. Anyone who knew David was aware of his fondness for "dumb jokes." He had fond memories of spending time with his Benzow second cousins.

Survivors include his wife: Kathleen Roscoe; step-daughter: Patricia (Mark) Schuettpelz; son: Steven Gillham; grandson: David Gillham (his namesake), both of Aurora, CO; two step-granddaughters: Isabel Schuettpelz and Rebecca Zeman; sister: Nancy Peotter; niece: Kathy Peotter; cousins: Don (Lynda) Roscoe, Judy English and Kathy Ehmig; and his beloved dog: Daisy. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Florence (Buenzow) Roscoe; grandparents: Sam and Florence (Carmody) Roscoe, Albert and Olga (Erickson) Buenzow; step-son and step-granddaughter: Michael and Ashley Zeman; and brother-in-law: Glen Peotter.

David has been cremated at All-Care Cremation Center. There will be a celebration of life in the spring when his son and grandson can return from Colorado.

We so enjoyed David's visits when he was traveling to/from Colorado. We have three of his folk art creations that are truly artistic and we treasure. Having David, Kathi and Nancy join us for our 50th wedding anniversary last September was an honor. Lastly, and most importantly, we will be forever thankful that we were able to visit with him this September. Although he had to be in such pain, he was very much his old self, and we know he made that immense effort for us. David and Don were more like brothers than cousins, and he will be missed more than we can say. Don and Lynda Roscoe
