Donald Dreier Obituary

Donald K. Dreier

Howard - Donald Kenneth Dreier, 83, greeted his eternal father in heaven on Friday, May 3, 2019. He was born on March 2, 1936, in Green Bay, to the late Almon and Frances (Bosacki) Dreier. He played half back for Green Bay East High School and graduated in 1954. During his time playing half back for the school, Don would often have to relinquish his locker during the Packer games for the opposing teams' players. On August 18, 1956, Don married Janice Palet at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Don started working as a paper boy at a young age and later worked for H.C. Pranges. He worked at H.J. Martin, and Super Value Warehouse as a supervisor. In 1969, Don invested locally in the Arby's franchise. He owned and operated an Arrby's restaurant and over the years Don would add six more restaurants. Don was the first Arby's franchise to put one of the restaurants in a gas station in Wisconsin. He was on the ARCOP Board of Directors for purchasing product for the Arby's Company. After, 30 years of devotion to Arby's, Don retired.

Don and Janice enjoyed many boating seasons throughout lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and in to Canada. He was a member of the Green Bay Yacht Club, the Bay Sammers (Good Sams) Motor Club and Family Motor Coach Association. Don and Janice spent numerous winters in Florida and Texas. They would go on traveling to 48 of the 50 states in their motor home. Don was an avid Packer fan and he was a proud stock holder with the Packers organization. Don was lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a devoted Catholic. Even in his travels, whether snowmobiling, boating, or "RVing," he had always made time to go to church. Wherever he went he was inclined to know where the nearest Catholic church was. Don loved his family and spending time with those he loved. He enjoyed sitting on the deck at the cottage watching the kids ski and swim. Don adored having the family over for the holidays.

Don will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Janice Dreier; his son, Daniel Dreier; grandchildren, Ally, Amber, Lexy; great-grandchildren, Addy, Jr., Sammy; sister, Sandy Vargas, CA; son-in-law, Tim Ottem, Milwaukee; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Marty) DiPietro, CA, Nancy Dreier; Green Bay, brothers-in-law, James (Ingrid) Palet, TX, Jack (Marlene) Palet, Edgerton, WI.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Ottem; granddaughter, Abby Jo Ottem; brother, Gerry Dreier; sister, Kathy Briggs; brothers-in-law, Jerry Palet and John Palet.

Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., on Friday, May 10, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Bergstadt officiating. Inurnment will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Howard. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy the family will establish a memorial in Don's name.
