Gary Brozek Obituary
Allouez - Gary L. Brozek, age 80, of Allouez, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at a local hospital. The son of the late Otto and Ruth (Staneski) Brozek was born July 17, 1938 in Green Bay. He attended East De Pere High School and St. Norbert College. On June 11, 1960, he married Mary Ellen Murphy at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Green Bay. Gary was a business agent and manager for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union for over 20 years. His numerous accomplishments include being a member of the Local Union 298/400 for 50 years, being inducted in to the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 400 Hall of Fame and the Wisconsin Plumbing Committee Hall of Fame. He was also a Local Union 298 Apprentice/Journeyman Instructor at NWTC and chairman of the Local Union 298 Pension Fund.
In his spare time Gary enjoyed gardening, reading books, travel, spending time with family and friends, and attending Packer games with his Irish family. Gary and MaryEllen are members of Resurrection Parish Family in Allouez.
Survivors include his wife, MaryEllen (Murphy) Brozek, sons; Mike (Terry) Brozek of Elgin, IL and Joe (Amy) Brozek of De Pere, grandchildren; Brittany and Caitlin, brothers in law; Mike (Lonnie) Murphy and Terry Murphy and sisters in law; Debbie Brozek, Margaret Murphy and Kathleen Murphy. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Gary in death are his parents, father and mother in law, Pat and Marrieta "Dot" (Maloney) Murphy, brothers; Doug and Jim, brother in law, Paddy Murphy, and sister in law, Jeanne Murphy.
Family and friends may gather beginning at 4:00pm, Friday, October 26, 2018 at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, until a prayer service being held at 7:00pm. Visitation will begin again Saturday at 9:30am at Resurrection Parish Family, 333 Hilltop Dr., Allouez until 10:45am, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O Praem, officiating.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the Allouez Fire and Rescue Department along with St. Vincent Hospital. Emergency room staff for the support and compassion shown to Gary and his family. Also, special thank you to the staff of two of Gary's favorite restaurants Golden Basket and Village Grille, that he frequently attended with good friends Joe and Irv for breakfast.

I will always remember Gary as an upstanding as well straight forward man who had the patience to explain things.He always put the best interests of the Local members first, he was a rock. He will be missed.My prayers for his family and friends over his passing.

Mary Ellen and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Growing up in a union family meant I got to meet and spend some time with my Father's union brother's. Gary was certainly a big part of my Father's union family. Gary you were a good man to your wife and family and you were a good man to the worker's and union members of local 298/400. I am very sorry that I am out of town and unable to attend the wake or funeral services. On behalf of the O'Neil family I would like to express our sincere condolences for your loss.
