Gregory Rogers Obituary

Gregory Allen "Greg" Rogers

Suamico - Gregory Allen "Greg" Rogers, 61, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family Sunday, January 17, 2021. He was born on July 21, 1959 in Green Bay to Gerald and Katherine (DeStaercke) Rogers.

Greg graduated from Green Bay West High School, Class of 1977. On October 15, 1988 he married Debbie Kaminski. He worked as a security guard until he was hired at RR Donnelley, where he worked for the next 30 years, as a supervisor in shipping and logistics, semi-retiring after 30 years, at the age of 53. He then worked part-time jobs for the Green Bay Rec Department as a referee and was also a crossing guard.

Greg enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, camping, and spending time with family. He would hold legendary fish frys at his home and up north at Franklin Lake near Eagle River. Greg was an avid sports follower for professional, college and high school sports. He belonged to White Tails Unlimited and Walleyes for Tomorrow.

Greg would give the shirt of his back to anyone. He was a gentle giant, very selfless, and a real good listener that would give good advice. His family was his life. He was lovingly called "Papa G" by his grandchildren, whom he adored.

Greg's last year of life was full of trial treatments with hopes that someone else could have more answers than he did. He had the strength of a warrior and continued treatments as he fought right to the end.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Debbie; his children, Brad (Lindsey) Rogers and Amanda Rogers; grandchildren, Blaine and Bryson Rogers and Beau (is on the way); his mother, Katherine Rogers; siblings, Lisa (Dan) McGuire, Curt (Luanne) Rogers and Brian Rogers; mother-in-law, Ellie (Dave) Posen; Debbie's siblings, Carol (Brian) Utech, Linda (Randy) Homel, Roger (Carolyn) Kaminski, and Randy (Susan) Kaminski; his dog, Dakota; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; an uncle, Richard (Carol) Rogers; and grandparents, Clarence and Mabel DeStaercke, and Harry and Eleanor Pirlot.

Visitation will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 4 p.m. with Rev. James Lucas officiating. All in attendance are required to wear masks properly, covering both the nose and mouth. Entombment will be in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Expressions of Sympathy may be shared at www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com, or cards may be sent to Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, WI 54303 to the attention of Greg Rogers' family and they will be forwarded.

In lieu of flowers, Greg has requested that donations be made to the Oral Cancer Foundation at www.oralcancerfoundation.org or mailed to 1211 E. State St., Boise, Idaho 83712

The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff of Unity Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
